The dog ate my homework!

   That must be true, and I know we don't have a dog.  The fact that the homework's not done and the fact that we have cable is enough to anger me to a slight degree.  Well, slight if I work at it.
  This past Thursday, or 4 days ago, players from two baseball teams got in to a fight.  Jeez what a freaking surprise!  I'll bet that never happened before.  It must not have happened before because it's still being broadcast as news!
  Now this.  On Friday Tiger Woods got penalized by the PGA for placing his ball in the wrong place!  I have reached my wits end!  Tiger must be the only player ever to receive a penalty!  I have witnessed that play five times in one-half hour segment of ESPN Sports Center --- FIVE FREAKING TIMES!  ....and they could have shown real sports news and scores (which is what I wanted to see).
  Now this.  My elbow has not improved, and you already know that I'm not wearing my support elastic sleeve.  I will contact my provider this week.
  And finally...probably, this.  If you wear suspenders you must remember this.  If you sit on a toilet in a room with tile floors, and the suspenders get under your feet, it's slippery as the dickens!  I have proof!
  Okay, I'll try to do some homework!

Typical!

  I don't even know where to start, hmmm let's see.  Saturday was a decent day weather wise, drizzle in the early morning, you know 2-5AM - my walking time, but I still got in about 4 miles plus, combining indoors with the rest.
  For some reason I must have had a wish for punishment and I watched the Baltimore Orioles clobber the Boston Red Sox.  Most teams have been able to banish the Red Sox from a win, and they remain in the Eastern Division cellar - after watching the game the cellar is the appropriate place.
  After that I watched the Kentucky Derby.  The horses were beautiful, super animals.  The winner caught me by surprise, but thinking back I've only ever picked one winner, Seattle Slew in 1977.
  Then I read some of the local news updates, Husson University and the University of Maine had graduation ceremonies yesterday, the top of the class bios are always interesting.  At UMaine an honors grad is a young woman from Lewiston who was homeless for much of her high school years, she graduated from Lewiston High as valedictorian, and got out of UMaine with a 3.894 GPA, that means she will be successful at the Maine School of Law.  I think that's what you call a super kid.
  I also read that at the Maine Republican Convention that Ron Paul supporters took the whole shebang over, elected the Secretary and President of the event from among their midst and took over the proceedings.  Interesting stuff to ask my pal Harry about on Monday for sure.
  Have a great day, I'm off (in more ways than one)>

Get lost!

Cow Maze by Remsen Development Corp. Remsen NY
  There are people all over the country, and probably even more than that.  There message to you?  Get lost!  Yep, that's what they're hoping for, and you know eventually you'll make it through and get out.
  This is a simple method of fund raising, fun for people, and the livestock can eat the rest for winter food, and you can do it again, year after year.
  The Global Positioning System made all this possible, a farmer can punch the course in an on board computer on the tractor and start cutting his was through the growing corn.  And, yes, there are some who draw their own designs - but be whichever method is used - the end result is fun!
A Missouri farm cuts a new one each year.
Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch, Liberty, MO
Larson's Farm in New Milford, Connecticut wants to attract all
baseball fans, and a lot of others too.  Red Sox win by the way.
Boston Bruins Goalie Tim Thomas raises the Stanley Cup as the
team celebrates the win.  You can find this, this year only, at
Sherman Farm in East Conway, New Hampshire

Don't...

...be afraid of things that go 'bump in the night',
they always go away, long before daylight;
it's all in your mind, that's what they say,
but they haven't seen that they're here in the day.

And it's daytime
Maybe, just maybe it you get on your bike,
you can get away, or, stay here if you like;
I don't think it matters, those things are right here,
but you can't hear me scream.  Can you dear?

Bump-a-bike
 Nah! Don't be afraid, those things aren't real,
go look at nature, that's sure to heal,
look at the flowers, tended by a bee,
you can look with your heart, at things you can't see.

See?

Don't...

...ride with strangers, your mother said,
so that's something you look at with dread;
and you know, it wouldn't be wise,
to ride with strangers - that advertise.

Do not ride with strangers
 Don't over exercise, it's could be bad for your back,
it's okay to do some, make up for muscles you lack;
but don't over do it, it's a dangerous thing,
especially those push ups, with only one "wing".

Go, Baby, Go!!
Don't run stop signs, no matter the place,
they are there for a reason, there's no need to race,
stop, look both ways before you proceed,
those signs are real, you'd better take heed.

Don't go through stop signs

If all....

....business men were honest, that would be great,
but it'll never happen, when there's a chance to raise a rate,
or what if the Iraq War wasn't what they said,
did we raise the price of gas, to make up for the dead?

And if cartoon characters aged the way we do,
don't you think Orphan Annie would look just like you?
Or, how about Popeye, our all favorite sailor man,
what would he look like now, instead of younger than?

You never...

...know, for sure, if what you see is right,
maybe if you're tired, and turning in for the night;
something might look 'different' than it usually does,
the lines are softened, a little like fuzz.

Or doing heavy reading, did you just yawn?
Or me doing reading way before dawn;
things aren't always just what you see,
your eyes and brain can trick you, how can that be?

So take a look at these illustrations, look close and try,
to see if they fool you, of if you've got a good eye;
some of them are tricky, but they've been around,
you may already have an answer. Let's take a look around.
How many people in this illustration?

Duck or rabbit?

Old or young woman?

I suspect...

...most people like to sleep in bed,
it's a painful situation, a man could wake up dead;
or, better yet, some magical cure,
could make that same guy, a downright bore.

That's enough about me, let's take about nice stuff,
there's a lot or that around, and I can't get enough;
like this friendly nurse that called, her name was Kathleen,
she put me on a list, to study, hope my lungs are clean.

But that's not the nice I speak of, I just wandered off,
and found some great photos, no, there's no need to cough.
Just take a look and wonder, how a photographer waited so long,
to see some beautiful, as pretty as a song.

There are...

...some neat things I see every day,
some are up close, and some far away,
I like looking for pictures, they entertain,
and it sure beats, above all, a walk in the rain.

Now some news from the home front, and the life I led,
I spent a whole night, upstairs, in my bed;
after three months in a chair, I thought it would be nice,
until I woke up this morning and the air was like ice.

I guess I'll try it again, it's where I should be after all,
I had my radio, but there was not bat on the ball,
a couple of months more, when the weather is tame,
I can lay there, with a ear to the game.

This is...

...a true story, don't forget about that,
it's just what the ol' rambler has under his hat;
maybe that "map" I showed yesterday,
could be of my brain, hope it's not here to stay.

Just woke up from a dream that was strange,
got up in the middle, two parts to arrange;
it was about a radio show and the phone company,
I don't know what those have to do with me.

A crooked deal with the telephone company,
meant each phone was now a public utility,
but a radio announcer, Kaiekio by name,
was fighting to make things remain all the same.

The radio station was in an old Home Depot store,
and if you saw my sidecar for shopping carts, you may roar,
I guess it's a good thing that I've woken up,
well, tomorrow maybe there'll be something new in my "cup".

I've been thinking of a way to make extra money,
and have come up with a deal that's a real honey,
all I have to do is stand around on the street,
and money comes right to me!  Sweet!
A note: Kaiekio (Ky-echi-oh)may be the real name of a radio guy (ESPN), it could be spelled different.

Last night...

...was better, I don't know why,
but around four, I caught a few winks on the fly;
slept until two, then there was no more,
so, time to get up, it's no time to snore.

Did you get the hint a couple of days ago,
the one about the web-site where we can go..
..and make free donations and do some good.
You did? Thanks, I knew you would.

Today is a Hollie day, and we're going light,
don't get stuck in that traffic out there tonight,
the weather is mild, for this time of year,
but we won't go far, we'll stay quite near.

Still going to Staples, to plastic things in,
in case you've been wondering where we have been,
I'll write here tomorrow and fill you all in,
then maybe next week, we'll do it all over again.

You have...

...to scratch you head in wonder, at some of these,
houses that were built, they had someone to please;
every shape, size and color, each one is unique,
that's what I'm going to show you, care to have a peek?

Some are made of stone, or in stone I might add,
but of these that are none, that I wish I had;
but they sure are different, each one has it's charm,
so, let's go and take a look; aww, what's the harm?

Top: In a rock!  That must be one long ladder hanging down, not for me.
Middle: The Pineapple House, it's in Scotland.
Bottom: This one is way up there; but I don't know where, Peru or China maybe.

Housing is...

...a specialty, I now realize,
some built in grand style, and whatever size;
in all shapes and uses, I'd never known,
but it's all true, as you will be shown.

Houses in shapes to individual tastes,
some of them I'd consider a waste;
but they're unique, as you will see,
so, I guess, whatever will be, will be.

Top: In South Korea, this house was built to resemble a toilet.
Middle: In Michigan, the Pickle Barrel house - Michigan packs more pickles than any other state.
Bottom: Fit for a czar?  I don't know, this one is in Utah.

We all....

...have to live somewhere, a house or a home,
so I've picked some places where you'd never need to roam;
nice peaceful houses, built with much care,
so why would these places, cause people to stare.

I'll admin they're not ordinary, like some houses are,
but if you could have one, sure you'd be a star,
the talk of the neighborhood, would be a likely bet,
so just pause and take a look. You ain't seen nothing yet!

Top: in Japan, and not by accident, the door is under the chimney.
Middle: in China, the door is in the cello, a man is on the steps inside.
Bottom: Thrown together in Russia, without explanation.

The truth...

...is stranger than fiction, that's what we say,
and I have some strange things for you today,
some caused by nature, some caused by man;
it easy to see, who don't give a damn.

Leave things are they are, it's better that way,
don't try to beautify, so, what do you say?
Leave things to nature, then if by chance....
..you come out real good, I'll ask you to dance.

Top: Now you know why I said leave things alone!
Middle: That cloud is strange, or just a little different.
Bottom: A house between a rock and a hard place.

What....

...in the world is that thing,
fall from space, for Jupiter's ring?
Who made that, and what it is?
Strange stuff that among us is.

Fouled my speech up there I guess,
that's alright, unless I forget to dress,
thought you'd like to see some things,
that defy description, what the camera brings.

Top:  Any guess?  I think, but not for sure, it's retired aircraft at Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona, military planes, another guess, because of the difference in sizes.

Middle: A Russian tractor, is it for digging up trees?  Actually it's not real, it is the work of animators.  But it sure looks real to me.

Bottom:  There is a line or streak from top-left to bottom-right (at the point you see a flame or flash at the waters surface.  It's there if you look hard, scientist can't answer, may lightning, or a meteor, but something fell and hit the water.

Something....

...is going on here, I'm not sure what it is,
maybe it's the medicine, it makes me take a whiz;
or maybe it's the weather, too warm and damp,
or could it be the switch on this little lamp.

Odd things can happen, even as we talk,
for instance there's a bicycle that's been made to walk,
isn't that sort of like a rooster than can lay an egg?
Or, maybe it could keep you from breaking a leg.
See? Here it is. I told you so, very strange, but true,
and please take notice - some shoes are blue,
I don't think they're suede, but they're blue enough,
and I want you to know I don't make up this stuff.

So how about a sheep race?  Want to see one of those?
We won't know who the winner is, or how he was chose;
some of them have riders, others are alone,
but I'm telling you the truth, I want that to be known.
And...they're off, headed toward the line,
I think the rider in pink is really doing fine;
it's not a long race, just a quarter of a mile,
and when they finish, well, do you think they smile?

Looking for a parking space can cause you to frown,
well, not where I live, I don't live in town,
but in a big city, where parking space is tight,
people double up, and some get in a fight.

See?  Even at the Post Office! That must be Bangor Maine,
one had no parking, and at the new one it's insane.
Now don't get me wrong, Bangor's a nice place,
but when there is no parking...well..join the race!

Enjoy - the odds and ends.

Let's talk...

..about, some show and tell, because it's been a while,
thing with wheels or wings, they cause me to smile;
and if you haven't seen any of my stuff,
soon you'll be yelling: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

So...are you ready, to see some homemade art?
If you're not, then turn away, we're coming to that part,
it's where we'll separate the men from the boys,
it's when I'll show you, what I do with "my toys".

This is one, just finished yesterday,
but these were Air Force planes, not what we used to play;
they are the F100 and an F111 too,
done for a friend, who may not know what to do.
How about a car..1929 Ford to be exact,
back in the day, this was where it's at;
done with watercolor pencil, then washed with a brush,
it's a useful application - if you're not in a rush.

Back to the planes, the mail is on it's way,
it's the C1A COD* plane to save the day;
this is the first aircraft that I tried,
don't know if I like it, but it kept me occupied.
Now a Ford tractor, a yellow one at that,
it was made for road work, where yellow is old hat;
there were not many made in a color like this,
so somewhere is a collector, who lives in his bliss.

The shadow you see, on each one of these,
are mostly caused by scanning, note it, if you please,
so that is how I spend valuable time,
it's not yours to waste; but, it certainly is mine.

Don't forget to feed the critters now and then,
now's the time to do it, so please don't ask when;
www.theanimalrescuesite.com is where to go,
look up at the tabs, push the button down below.

And don't stop with the pets, there is more to do,
fight breast cancer, or help teach reading too;
protect the rain forest, or help furnish a meal,
or, I think, not last but least, help children to heal.

Enjoy!!

A good...

...nights sleep, at least for me,
works wonders, refreshes, helps me to see...
...that it's needed to end a busy day;
now I feel better, that's what I say.

Now I've watched the Red Sox, got over at one,
pitching was good, and the Red Sox won!
Not a bad game, I joined in the fourth,
had coffee and breakfast, as the ball went back and forth.

Today is a Hollie Day, I know what that means,
busy stuff to do, sharing all her dreams,
pictures of the President and his family today,
and photos from a magazine, who am I to say.

But, before all those things begin,
I'll push some buttons, only once not again;
all across the top, tab by each tab,
helping lots of causes, that is just fab.

And a cheerful reminder, that we all can give,
support to one another - Live and Let Live!

Enjoy you day.

I am...

...really tired, not much sleep for two days,
and, then, for Linda, there is nothing but a haze,
she gets no sleep, it's not her bed, and she is wired...
...to the monitors, I know she's more tired.

She will be home today, at a time to be....
..announced.  I know how she feels, in May it was me.
The doctors have found not too much it seems,
she might as well be home, and join me in her dreams.

I just watched the game, starting with inning four,
the Sox were ahead, six to one was the score;
in the bottom of the ninth, it took a turn for the worst,
the bullpen screwed it up - just like they'd rehearsed!

First Delcarmen, Pappelbon et al,
failed miserable trying to throw the ball,
they gave up five runs, Seattle tied the score,
then I grew afraid, knowing what was in store.

In the fourteenth inning Boston got two runs,
Seattle got three outs, the sons of guns;
so the Red Sox win the game, but at what price,
they pulled Lackey in the eighth, that wasn't nice.

So he I go again, running at the mouth,
not know of what I speak, my brain is going south;
I am not an expert, of the baseball stuff,
I do know that as a fan, sometimes I have it rough.
