It probably doesn't matter anyway

Sounds boring to me
On the other hand, it might not be a bad idea; better than watching TV Olympics.  My aching butt they put on things I wouldn't even think of.  There were several hours of archery, fencing and water polo.  And I should mention several soccer games, I watched one - Great Britain v Uruguay, that was a pretty good game.
I took my prescribed nap from noon to one for whatever that was worth.  I shouldn't have been too tired because I only walked about two miles (indoors).  The rain fell until about noon, long enough to prevent me from getting any miles in.  Today is cloudy with no rain, hooray!  I am looking forward to maybe six miles or so today.
The Red Sox win streak is over, they lost to Detroit last night, but they aren't in last place any longer.  I wonder how long that will last?  Anyone know?
See? There really is a reason!

Not setting a record

Finished - click
While the Olympic was in reruns yesterday, and there were no daytime baseball games on TV I took time to finished 'the house'.  Now it's time to think of the next project which I've selected and we'll see how I can make it look.
My walking program is going strong now, the past seven days have see an average of 6.916 miles per day.  I'm going to have to find a different location soon because the State is going to replace the Union Street overpass of I-95.  That bridge is right in the middle of my walk, both ways.  I don't like to walk in residential areas because of the time, 3:00-4:00AM, and the possibility of peoples dogs barking and waking them.  And I'm thinking the police might think I'm 'casing the joint'; there's some real "childhood fears" in action there.  I'll find a new place soon with out a lot of trouble, the Griffin Road/Airport area might be a good place.  I'm writing this like you know the places and of course you don't, I guess you could Google those street names in Bangor, Maine and see them.
Today is a Hollie Day, I need to visit the ATM this morning and get ready for the fast action of "race shopping" and pacing while waiting for the employees of Staples to laminate the projects. Yeow!

It's gonna be a great day, just you wait and see!

Almost there - click
The front came through!  The front cam through!  Yes, yes, yes!  Pretty exciting stuff isn't it?  And, it's just a weather pattern.  But the humidity and slightly higher temps are gone; replaced by low humidity, low dew points and lower temps.  Plus, as a bonus, a very nice breeze from the north and west.  This will be an excellent day for a walk, at about 3:00AM.
The old car needs a tire looked at, by someone other than me, by someone who knows what they're looking at.  I bought four tires about 28,000 miles ago; the tire are rated for 80,000 miles; and they cost a bundle.  One of the four looks a lot more worn than the others, an alignment was done then, and an alignment was done a little later on too.  Something looks wrong to me, we'll see what Mr. Pelletier has to say.
As you can see (maybe) the project house is just about finished, there are some lines between the two windows on the right and the door needs something more.  Putting the white on was a little bit difficult, I used acrylic paint for that - my old instructor said "why not? It's water based, isn't it?", if it's good enough for her it's good enough for a geezer hack like me.
  Ready for a walk.

If it's not broke..........

Most of you know I try to walk every day, so what happens when there is a change.  On this past Monday my usual "early route" around the Airport Mall in Bangor was not walkable because of paving work.  I decided to walk down Union Street from the Mall parking area to 16th Street where Union meets the Interstate.  It turns out that the distance walked is still about 2.25 miles.  To walk that distance now takes almost an hour (embarrassing).  After the walk I'm still at McDonalds for coffee with the guys.
But Monday something was different, or two things.  One, I ate a half banana with my cereal, two, I had a cup of coffee at Tim Hortons before walking because it was early.
During the walk back up Union I got the "willies".  The Willies is when I get a little confused, sweat like it's 105 degrees, and stumble a little - like walking drunk, but not horribly drunk.
I reported the episode to the Nurse that follows my health and progress from the illness over a year ago.  She contacted my Primary Provider and they would like to see me today.
I did the same walk on Tuesday, minus the banana, with no ill effects except it was raining and my hands got tired with the umbrella stuff.
At the end of the visit with the doctor today, I won't know any more about the "willies" than I do now.  If, it turns out, that there is an answer I will be totally surprised.  I have had nearly every cardiac test there is, I've had an MRI of my brain, ultra sound testing of arteries, all that stuff - there is no answer.
  I will keep you posted.

Now that...

A cowboy is sick Home on the Range!
...home, with meds I can give myself,
I just can't resign to living life on the shelf,
so yesterday we went for a walk,
we weren't out long, if you tell time by the clock.

I just needed to move, use my legs a bit,
when I'm at home all I do is sit;
that's not entirely true, I sleep some as well,
and I have things to do, but all is not just swell.

I write comments in the online version of the newspaper

Here's a list of things you could do, if you were home sick.(click to enlarge)

It's hard...

...are discharged at the hospital, there's a long wait,
maybe six hours, as for me I hate to wait,
so you can "chomp at the bit" all you want,
and get rolled right out, it's not a jaunt.

There are papers to sign and pages to read,
stuff to take home, oh, they make sure you agreed;
somebodies coming to give you a ride,
you can show them those papers, with a great deal of pride.

When you....

...arrive at an Emergency Room, you may not know what to say,
it's a very busy place, follow directions for the rest of the day.
Day? What's this? Just how long does this stuff take?
About eight hours.  But if you're good? No, you still won't get cake!

It's because they need to know what symptoms you complain about,
like a headache or a fever, a chopped off toe, or just plain gout;
there is a whole variety from which they may choose,
but one thing is for certain, by going you can't lose.

Hmmm, this reminds me of someone....

Me, after I was admitted

Going to...

the hospital certainly no fun,
what is interesting is how the place is run,
they'll ask you what's the matter, and things like that,
and whether maybe you or someone else owns a cat.

When I told them I had pneumonia, wait a second or two,
she said "I know Mona and her mother too"
by then I was worried, but had no other choice,
maybe they should give the patient, a little more voice.

Then upon admission, to a real hospital room,
things begin to happen fast, I heard a sonic boom,
they inspect every inch of your outer shell,
looking for abrasions, or if you've been in hell.

They check it all, you buttocks too, leaving not much out,
but they didn't check my genitals, what's that all about?
I must say it was after midnight when this was going on,
I was sleepy, in bad spirits - couldn't they wait until dawn?

Well, anyway, long story made short,
I got my antibiotics pumped right in, that I can report,
and the food was good, and that's an actual fact,
but even after 3 visits this year, I don't know how to act.
This is all fiction, based on fact, and some of it is not true.

An apple...

...a day, did NOT keep the doctor away,
in my case it sent me in the opposite way;
and overnight in the hospital, back home last night,
dad-blasted pneumonia won't quit without a fight.

So good luck to my pal "Wilbur" in North Dakota,
his two trips to a hospital and back, have they got a quota?
Well, it ain't easy for us cold climate geezers,
help me get this tape off! Have you seen the tweezers?

Oh, well, I'm back but that is were I've been,
it's as boring a place as I've been, since I don't remember when,
lay around, do nothing, my radio did not come in,
I guess I'll just stay home, so I won't go there again.

They WON!!..

...a by large numbers, fourteen to three,
proving once again, you don't know which team you'll see;
so let us celebrate, and if we dare a small shout,
looks like the Yanks win too, we're still 5 games out.

Todays a Hollie Day, I will not partake,
Linda takes a turn today (again), while I sit home and bake, (me not any cooking)
I took a fall yesterday, right in to the ditch,
went to get the paper, and hit that SOB.

A car was coming down the hill, I couldn't tell how fast,
watched the car as it approached, took a little splash,
bumbed the culvert with my knees, a couple of cuts,
and some bruises and scapes too, stay out of the ruts!

So an ice pack on the bruise, better before you know it,
dad-blasted cars, should know when to slow it.
Although it's not the drivers fault, could it be prevented?
Damn right it could, if my vision wasn't dented.

So, I'll take it easy, no walking for me today,
well, maybe just a little, what else can I say?
How about a flashlight, or just watch where I'm going,
what it comes to in the end...is,...my age is showing.

Enjoy AND stay cool (is that possible?)
