Here are a couple of things we could never have been a civilized society without. They are among some of things that are really, really needed.

| A sideways bike |
A bicycle made for one, the rider has a choice of handlebars, I don't know why because one of them could have been just a free-wheeling follower. The other option would be holding each handlebar with one hand. Just get on, point it in the direction you want to go, and let it rip. What could possibly go wrong?

| No wet shoes! |
My mother always told me not to get my feet and shoes wet, that was an open invitation to get wet. This woman in the photo listened to her mom and used "Shoe Umbrellas". What a good girl!

| An unpopular device |
You could not have heard a pin drop! In fact you couldn't have heard anything, not after this band went by. These were the worlds only know Mechanical Wheeled Trombones. The wheels turned, that rod operated a bellows, and each instrument was set at a single note and the air supplied by the bellows "blew" the horn. What a melodious parade. I, for one, wish it would have lasted. Honk, if you love good music!
