Questions, questions

The World at berth in Australia in 2006 - click to enlarge

  The "Worlds largest yacht" The World arrived in Eastport, Maine yesterday, she is scheduled to visit Bar Harbor today, then Rockland and Portland.
  Not a cruise ship the co-operatively owned vessel is home to 130 families and their guests.  The families own condominiums ranging from Efficiency units ($750,000) to six bedroom, 3 story condos that sell for $10,000,000) plus maintenance fees of over a quarter million dollars per year.  The ship named "The World" travels in a continuous loop around the globe.  This is all well and good, but I have questions.
  The families hail from 16 different countries, do they owe any taxes anywhere?  Is this really just a way to avoid taxes?  How much do they donate to charity, if at all?  How do they get their mail? or, are they so much not like the rest of us that none of this matters?
  Just a thought.

There was...

...plenty or the rain and snow, that I don't like,
three hundred eighty miles, most of it on the 'pike;
not a day for travel, we went just the same,
to a designated place, so she could leave Maine.

Rhonda the older daughter is on her way home,
headed back to Florida, never more to roam,
we had a great visit with her and the others,
I think it's a special thing, especially for mothers.  (dad's too)

There wasn't much walking done, between the drops and flakes,
at least there's no need to worry, about attacks from snakes,
just a little here and there, round and through a store,
todays the first time in many, my feet aren't too sore.

I was glad to get back, to our humble home,
just in time to answer another silent phone;
why does the damn thing ring when there's nobody there?
Of course I just hang up! But, I have to leave my chair!

This morning I think it's time to push one or two....
...of those pretty buttons, won't you join me too;
there are plenty to choose from, which one is the best?
That's an easy answer, push them all, and take a rest.

If you see a person in clothes torn and threadbare,
what is there that you can do, to show them that you care?
Donate to a shelter, food pantry, you can give,
helping another thats: Live and Let Live.

Smile!

It's still...

...raining, I'd hoped to catch a break,
some time before the state becomes a deep lake,
maybe a little later, the deluge will stop,
but, in the meantime, stay close to a mop!

Driving down to the southern part later today,
it's time for my daughter to get underway,
so we're leaving early, that's later for me,
I was up at 11:30PM, morning/night you see.

We'll take time for breakfast/lunch depending on who,
thinks it's mealtime, lunch for me, breakfast for you.
I'm going to miss the meeting, place to start the "day",
but I'll be back tomorrow, hopefully, whole in every way.

And tell me why in the world I'd get a postcard,
from the Census Bureau, trying hard,
to get me to mail stuff in right away, why do they thirst?
how can I answer, who'll live here April first?  (it's March 23rd)

Why not take time to vist, the button pushing site,
I'm going to keep pushing until I get it right,
should I start with the yellow, or maybe the pink,
take time to write me, tell me what you think.

Time to make the coffee!

Gone.....

...for a day, and with good reason,
because I went to retrieve, just for the season,
my daughter Rhonda up for a visit,
that's my reason, good one isn't it.

But I had to stay overnight,
it was was past my bedtime, an oversight;
but we connected, just before ten,
I was up five hours more than I would have been.

But now I'm home, yesterday afternoon,
not anxious to leave any time soon,
staying at a motel, is way over rated,
if I did it for long, I need to be sedated!

But we visited with my older brother,
and went over to visit my mother,
we're all older, by quite a lot,
but, you know, that's what I've got.

Of course I'm just a fresh faced kid,
looking at them, to see what age did,
how is it possible, for my time to stand still,
Gee! I must have some kind of magical pill!

Coffees ready!  Just in time too!

Today...

...will be a travel day, up to the County,
there ain't no better way, to see natures bounty.
But yesterday, while I stayed home and played,
Linda and Hollie went down the coast, unafraid.

But in the end, they had some recreation,
but at the start, it was no vacation.
Some days, I guess, things just go like that,
other time it's different, simple as that.

I'm at a loss of words, only been up a half hour,
no coffee yet, I have to wait, my brain needs a scour;
so I guess I'll keep it short, and give you all a break,
you've probably been waiting for me to go jump in the lake.

But I will push the buttons, for causes great and small,
they are all important, but my favorite of all,
is the feed the critters, I can have a ball,
if we care for them, we care for us all.

Some times there are people, who aren't like us at all,
that doesn't mean they're different, well...aren't we all?
They may have a nationality, race, or something to give,
who are we to judge? Live and Let Live.

FYI  Clicking buttons:  In the last year there were enough "pushes" to give 6,986 mamograms, and 92 million bowls of pet food.  It works, if you work it.
Smile!  It's coffee time!

A road....

....less traveled, is still there of course,
so yesterday we followed it to the source;
right down the highway, I ninety-five,
to see if the family was still alive.

We went to my brothers, well he and his wife,
down to Dover, New Hampshire, where they spend their life;
they where both doing well, not many complaints,
none of that hearing there is, and there aint's.

Then over to Sanford, Springvale for a fact,
to carry out the remainder of our visiting act;
gone to see Mother, she's ninety-six,
still lives out near where she was born in the sticks.

She is really doing quite well if you consider her age,
but she misses her family who have all gone to a new page;
parents, brother and sisters and her husband, my Dad,
she misses them all and the memories they had.

Then we came home, back the way that we went,
we did stop for food, Sams is the place on which we were bent,
their food is delicious, the crew is most kind,
I'll go there again and again if you don't mind.

Finally we made it back home,
and as of today we will no longer roam,
until the next time, we need to go,
ride around in the roads for 7 hours of so.

Please don't forget to Live and Let Live,
somewhere inside you there is something to give,
make life more pleasant for the others out there,
there is no harm, if they know you care.

Enjoy

While I lay sleeping.....

Or was I? What a strange start to a "normal" night.

I woke up at 6:45PM (that's right), from a very strange and funny dream. I had a dream that my brother in law, Thom, was here for a visit and was very excited because I was going to take him just a few miles to see the 43rd parallel! I had a map, already marked up, showing we were to take US83(the old US highway system) to just south of Dixmont. I woke up early the next morning, Thom was already up, he had a loaf of bread in a large plastic bag (from a pillow I think - the bag that is), we ate and were ready to go. Thom, in my dream, looked just like Jim Morris who is the News Director at Channel 5 WABI-TV, they do resemble each other.

This morning (I was up at 10:45PM) I looked up US83, it runs from Brownville Texas to the North Dakota/Canada border, and on the route 43 degrees is at the South Dakota/Nebraska line. The 43rd parallel around here is just south of Portsmouth NH. If you want to look up any of the old highways Wikipedia has a large selection - and I do look stuff like that up probably more than others.

I had been reading a Cathie Pelletier book The Bubble Reputation, maybe her books give me those crazy ideas; she is a terrific Maine born writer. The books are very funny in parts and quite serious in others, very enjoyable.

Anyway, 7 miles yesterday and looking forward to more this morning; I only need about a tenth of a mile to reach 300 miles, since March 8th!

Live and Let Live, and feed the critters http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/, or the hungry people, http://www.gsfb.org/ either way it will make you feel good.
