Doggie friends, woof yip pant

A Hunter in Mesa City Colorado wave his dog back - click to enlarge
AP photo
Here's what really happened:
Man:  Go get rope boy
Dog:  What the hell is that?
Man:  Rope, you know that twisty stuff like big string.
Dog:  Dude, you aint even making sense.
Man: Hurry up, get going.
Dog: To heck with you, I'm going to take a break.

Reality:  The man was rescued by the fire deptment minutes later, or maybe the person taking phtos.

Now tiy to imagine this.  The dog at the top never liked the hunter anyway, he hired those wolves to settle the matter,
and now he's got more problems.

The river got cold

The Penobscot River and Milford Dam appear frozen in this photo - click
Photo: Barb Sosman
It looks like the river froze,
by God I think it did.
You think it's frozen?  You think it did?
I didn't know, I went and hid.

I needed an escape, just what could I do?
The damned river froze. Yup, that's what it did.
It snowed forever here, how about you?
I froze the river over. Yup, that's what it did.

Now you could walk to Milford, couldn't you?
All the way from Old Town, if you watched your toes.
It was cold and snowy, we didn't know what to do,
We may be "up the creek" now that the river froze.

Disclaimer: This is pure fiction, the "river froze" in top photo was a cold and snowy day
in 2009.  This last snow was only about 9 inches.  You can't believe much of what my
imagination writes.

It ain't a whole lot. Yet.

Not the right kind of biscuits
www.offthemark.com
A pan of pretty biscuits, just waiting for me,
to shovel all the snow from underneath the tree;
the tree is large and mighty, with a large spread.
Shovel all of this?  To earn my daily bread?

You see, now, what this storm means in all our lives,
a chance to shovel 'til hearts content, and get some cold hives.
Fun for all the way I see it.  It's money in the bank.
But I don't understand at all, and that's being frank.

Useless work on useless stuff, unless you ski a lot;
hey, it's them ski guys, I think I see a plot.
Ski guys, they wear those masks when they rob the banks;
catch them, catch them all and give them 30 spanks.

DISCLAIMER:  This is a work of fiction (as if you didn't know).  It is not intended to cast
blame on ski guys.

Baseball and some other stuff too

Whaleback on the Airline (Maine Route 9)
Aurora, Maine  - click to enlarge
  I was able to watch two baseball games yesterday.  What a treat!  After this series I doubt that there will be any day games and that will end my ability to see any of them.  My bedtime is 7:30PM.
  With an early bedtime you don't see night games and I have no idea what people are talking about when they watch some of the other "night time shows".  I don't know if that's my loss or gain.
  I was up at 12:30AM for the second day in a row, I did nap in the afternoon, probably the nap was too late in the day.  I do know that I need to find a system that works to keep me on a little later schedule than that!  2AM would be an ideal time to wake up, 1:30 would be even better - I'd settle for either one.

No noose is good noose..

Canada Lilly
  The Fourth went off without a hitch.  Does that mean you lost your horses?  Did you have to walk home? Or, that you're still single?

  I was a little kid once, maybe five to seven years old, when I started to lose my baby teeth.  Mama would put a penny under my pillow and take the tooth, so it is alleged.
  When I got about one year older I was really resistant to going to bed.  Mama used to give me a dime to go to bed.  She would come in after I was asleep and take the dime and spank me in the morning for losing my money!
  The only meat we ate was beef.  Beef this and beef that.  When I was about ten I got to help bring home the beef.  Now I know where "rustle up some grub" came from.  Oh well, fresh beef every couple of months is good.  Isn't it?
  Now that I'm on my own and have a family we need a little money now and then.  I do work a couple of hours a month, but not too much.
  Ooops!  I've got to go, there's a bank right up ahead.

The whole thing above is not true.  Honest!

Number 1125

  I just about forgot about my blog this morning.  I know there is nothing ready to write about, or show, or even to think about.
  Oh!  Wait a minute! Yes there is.  I did start another project yesterday.  I'm not ready to show the beginning or tracing yet.  I did tracing from three separate photos and mixed them together.  It's a floral and I will share it with you, or bore you with it in a couple of days.
  Rain, rain and more rain, every day this week, it's hard to get my walking in working around the rain.  I was able to walk yesterday morning at about 3:15AM I walked three and a half miles and got another two miles later, total of five and a half miles.

Decide......no! Wait

Liberty Square Monument, Taipei Taiwan (Formosa)
  I thought a photo, or two, would be nice of Formosa (Taiwan) Republic of China; that's different than the Peoples Republic of China (that's mainland China, the big place, where everything is made).
  I found out the name "Formosa" came from Portugese explorers who named it Ilia Formosa, which translates to Beautiful Island, the word formosa being Portuguese for beautiful.  Not to mention they "found" a place that had been occupied by 30,000 years already, kind of like "discovering" America.
  I'm still hung up on On The Sunny Side of the Street.  The song was written in 1930 and it's never been worn out; not even when Rod Stewart recorded it.  It has been recorded by almost everyone in music who has a name you'd recognize and some you wouldn't.  From Stewart to Willie Nelson, to Louis Armstrong, and it's been popular by all of them, even John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun).
  I see that the President and Congressional Leaders has agreed on a package that will raise the debt limit, and cut spending - that will worsen the recession (my opinion) which in the case of us up here in Maine is still bad.  I guess we have to wait and see the final edition when Congress discusses, cusses and votes on the damn thing.
  It really would have been nice to see those people show up for "work on time" and had the whole messed settled when it should have been - at the beginning of June!  We'll see if they can finish us, I mean it, off on time.
Taipei Taiwan

Part of the words, not original, the word "Babe" in the first verse and "there" following pitter-pat
are not original

The newest rendition, I don't can't get a contract.

Good Morning.

No post today, a lot of back and hip stuff going on.  Doctor in five hours.
I'll be back tomorrow.   The Geezer

Tuesday, September 21, 2010

Well I....

...went and done it, the stress test that is,
there's not a lot about it, that would produce any fizz,
but it was quite a process, and some laying around,
and then the treadmill started, it'll make your heart pound.
This is what it feels like before the treadmill stops,
and I was out of breath, ready to call the cops;
I thought I was abused, but that's not the case,
it was all just a part of the whole damn chase.

So, now I'm radioactive, will be for a week,
but I don't glow in the dark, or seem strong or weak;
and I can't walk faster than a speeding car,
so much for atomic power, it didn't get me too far!

So I hope to get my schedule, such as it is,
more back to normal, let me mind my biz..
..and get back to walking, a mile at a time,
anyone know where I can get coffee for a dime?

So, that's my story of September twenty,
not much accomplished, or maybe there was plenty;
nobody knows, and most people don't care,
I won't do a test today, even on a dare!

Enjoy!!

I havn't...

...decided, yet, what to do,
use other photos, or continue to stew;
I guess I need to think, put my mind a rest,
as soon as I finish that nuclear test.

I wonder about being up on a treadmill...
..shot full of dye, what in the world will...
...be the results?  I still think it's not my heart,
but some other thing, that stops my start.

Well, tomorrow's not here yet, imagine that,
but this waiting around stuff is getting old hat.
So when the time comes to take the damn test,
I'll just get on, and give it my best.

Then I think, we'll find something new,
challenging opportunity for me and you;
find a way to get pictures from nps.gov;
and get back to doing a blog, that you people "love".

Enjoy!

And....(drum roll please)

...I just wanted to report, that I got out of bed...
..at the right time, not one o'clock instead.
I don't know what happened, better learn to read;
there's no excusing, this unread life I lead.

Got to get some book smarts, I think that's the word,
if I had my hearing aid, that would be what I heard;
the right one (hearing aid) was mailed to the shop,
for an overhaul, doesn't work, just 'said' stop.

I think it could be moisture, there's an abundance of it here,
when the weather finally changes, I won't shed a tear;
hot and humid stuff, don't that belong down south?
Yes, would be the answer, you heard it from my mouth.

I took a little time, to watch the Red Sox game,
they played so poorly, we should be full of shame,
terrible in the field, double that for at bat,
it's a lousy team that stinks, and that is that.

The British Open, on the other hand,
was a great game, in a great land;
the winner has a name, difficult to pronounce,
he beat long odds, on the big name he did pounce.

Then the Tour de France, in a mountain climb again,
if they can ride like that, I'd hope they all can win,
up a grade of eight percent, that's steep you know,
twenty-five miles an hour, I don't see how they go.

If I had to ride a bike, for thousands of miles,
there would be no mountains, and probably no smiles;
two thousand three hundred and twenty-five miles in that great race,
in two weeks time, up and down, up and down, with a smile on their face.

Please don't forget that we have 'work' to do,
clicking each tab, pushing a button or two,
please click each one, they all a great cause;
and kids that can't read, won't know Santa Claus.

Enjoy

Yikes!...

...I think I set a record, no wait!
there's no record setting here, that is not my fate.
I did get up a trifle late, oh, 12:30 or so,
that's certainly no reason, to let my whistle blow!

It could be a "modern day" record of some sort,
I can't prove it in any court, is that some kind of tort,
well, anyway, I really did sleep in,
guess listening to Hollie, caused quite a din.

Now, the Red Sox have won again,
with ten injured on the DL, they win!
Those are mostly starting players, I state,
on the DL there.  And, they're still great.

Heaven knows how they've managed to pull it off,
a bit of luck maybe, too, but, lest you scoff....
only a half game out, of the cherished first place,
they could, before the All-Star game, be in first place.

Well, slow down here, we've got things to do,
let's push some buttons, together, me and you.
Pick a tab, there up on top, choose one or the other,
you can help them one or all, or your favorite mother.

And don't forget to wave to your nearby neighbor,
maybe they're off to work, having to labor;
maybe they're 'different' than you, in some way,
just Live and Let Live, and give a friendly wave.

Enjoy (weather permiting) :)

Saturday already...

....it's really nothing new,
at least not for me, I wouldn't know about you;
just another Hollie Day, no different than the rest,
but, it takes no effort to make it among the best.

I suppose it will be a rather routine day,
doing all the usual things, there's no other way,
it's done from memory every time out;
if it was good once, then again, that carries some clout.

I'll enjoy the time we spend, if not the cash,
she may think that it's something people put in the trash,
that's just the way it is, not subject to change;
with all the time we spend extending our range.

So, I'll let you go, have a sunny day,
go about your business in a different way;
variety is the spice of life, I've often heard it said,
I didn't hear that today, my right hearing aid is dead.

Smile!

He said...

...let them listen to REAL music, that pompous twit,
conductor of the Symphony, one Mr. Itzit,
what the guy needs to hear, with his practiced ear...
...is Jerry Lee Lewis, when he puts the show in gear!

Mr. Conductor, if you so please, lend a hand,
you slow brained wit, with a tin horn band!
You've got me riled up, you've set off my ire;
go listen to Great Balls of Fire!

Real music indeed, I'll have you know,
there's all kinds of music, yours scores real low;
something better than the bad you were born,
may be Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On!

Or, Who Going To Play This Old Piano, after the Killers gone?
You are entitled to your "better than thou", right down to your bone;
but there'll never exist a man like you, brain full of fuzz,
who can do what The Killer does!

Note:  The song in my mind was You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma, sung by David Frizzel and Shelly West.  David is Lefty Frizzel (Saginaw, Michigan-yesterdays Tehachapi blog) younger brother, Shelly is the daughter of singer Dottie West.

Back to....

...my routine, after the Hollie Day,
but not much walking was done today,
just two and a half miles that can't be bragged about,
damned old knees and hips must be wearing out.

I'll find out next week, maybe, when I go...
...see the "lady quack", see if she guesses so.
But I got some in, that's what counts in the end,
as this old geezer teeters in the wind.

But I had a good time at coffee, and the meeting was great,
there are many benefits of living in this state,
and the local news is starting to reflect...
...the elections coming soon!  Is it over yet?

I don't know why a candidate takes six years to run,
for a two year term, and then serve only one;
before the run starts again, for a bigger office maybe,
there has to be a better way that we just can't see.

So I'll be off in about four hours,
it will still be dark, can't see those spring flowers,
but I get my "plodding" done, slowly move along,
while in my mind - well there it goes, it's the same old song.

So I should make some time now, to do a bit of work,
find the correct place, push buttons, you won't need a clerk,
look at all the good you do, in a short amount of time,
and I wonder if...you do yours...like I do mine.

If you strike up a conversation, with someone you do not know,
that may begin a friendship...and from that may flow...
the sharing of ideas, and the longer that you know...
the friendship will blossom, bear fruit...that's how they go.

Good coffee ;)

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

Off to...

...a good start, with coffee in tow,
it's only midnight, you're jealous I know,
you still have to sleep, you've got hours to go,
and I'm already up. Yep! Jealous I know.

You can't train your body, to get up at night,
if you think you can, you're in for a fight,
it takes years of practice, and dedication too,
so...maybe I'll try -- to be more like you!

This will be a Hollie Day, from six to maybe five,
I'm just in hope, of getting out alive,
we'll hit seven counties, Penobscot, Waldo to York,
and we'll do that distance, by, oh, nine o'clock.

A visit with Grandma, Mothers Day is near,
I'll enjoy to visit, although neither of us hear;
then we're going to backtrack, right up Route One;
going to Portland Headlight, oh, what great fun!

Do you think we'll go into Staples, at a practiced prance?
Well duh! What's the chance! We sure won't miss that dance!
probably more than once, we'll pass about three,
so, then I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Hollie will be excited, this is her great day,
she get's two each year, it's worth what I pay;
these are her "vacations", even though they're short,
today, we're going to go. We will not abort!   (old aviation speak)

But before I get to do those things, there's something I must do,
Go to http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/, and push some button too,
just by doing those simple things, we'll help out a lot,
it only take three seconds, how must time you got?

Somewhere, today, along the line will be people not like us,
we can either accept them, or cause some kind of fuss;
everyone who walks this Earth, has something to give,
that's why the motto was invented: Live and Let Live!

Have fun today!

Skunk!!

I saw him yesterday, that striped little thing,
in time to cross the road, or you know what that could bring,
when I was abreast of it, I sort of scraped my feet,
he/she took off running, it couldn't stand the heat.

It's the first time that I've seen it, in 2010,
so I'll need to be on the lookout, or be a has been;
and it's good to keep a watchful eye,
look for the critters and keep an eye on the sky.

Well, now they've gone and done it!
The Celtics I mean.  They played hard and won it,
first round winners will need the rest;
because now it's Cleveland, thought to be the best.

And the Red Sox were winners too, I'm almost overcome,
Clay Bucholtz pitched well, Lowell hit the winning run!
Now I can be happy, at least for today,
and keep my big mouth shut, the bitchin's gone away.

But I'll go walking, there's going to be some rain,
very light stuff, or snow, shouldn't be a pain;
at least I'll get some time in, maybe a few miles,
and that should keep me relaxed and giving smiles.

But first I think you know, what I'm going to do.
That's right! Go push the green, purple, blue;
and the red, pink and yellow, I'll go right down the line,
you do it your way, and I'll do it mine!

Live and Let Live, I can't say it enough;
take time to think it through, and all that other stuff;
just try to be friendly, smile and give a hand,
it's easy to be nice! But on the other hand.....

Smile!

Is it....

....Wednesday already? Boy, time flies fast,
it doesn't seem that long ago, but it's way back in the past;
I notice as I grow older that time don't last,
it seems almost like magic, things happen so fast.

Nothing much remarkable today to write about,
I guess I need to explore some stuff that has a lot of clout,
but where would I find that, silly me would ask,
why not try the Red Sox, are they up to the task?

They were on when I got up tonight/today,
boldly going in the ninth, waiting for a double play,
the some new kid came up, pinch hitter with two outs,
he banged it high up on the wall, the crown broke out in shouts.

He drove in the winning run, this kid,
and the team expressed it's joy, for what the kid did,
now he has a memory that will last for life,
pinch hitter in the ninth, ended days of strife.

So, thank you kid, I don't know your name,
but I'll find it out today, about your fleeting fame,
maybe now the team will settle down a bit,
you're the man of the hour, with that single hit!

Now let's not forget, it button pushing time,
I hope you'll do that, I'm going to do mine,
and then I'll be thankful, for lots of different things,
and grateful for each day I have, whatever it brings.

Enjoy!

Waltz...

...me around again Willy, a somewhat silly song,
I'll remember it today, while Hollie is along.
Yes! It's that time again, a co-pilot if you will,
we're looking for fun, and the battles not up hill.

I'm sure she has plans that are rather large,
she could do enough 'projects' to fill a shipping barge,
and she'll change her mind, don't want the ones she had,
let's go get a magazine, there's photos in there Dad.

I can hear it now, it's ringing in my ears,
so I might as well enjoy it, that'll bring the cheers,
the thing is that we always have a good time,
if you don't mind repeating, you won't be far behind.

But first I'll make some coffee, I'm going to do it now,
now I've gone and done it, can you hear that? Wow!
I'm looking forward to it, I love that first cup too,
but before I have that, I have things to do.

Go to the website http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/,
and you can join me, come on! Play along.
Up there at the top, see that row of tabs?
Push each and the button, that each one has.

And please always remember one important thing,
don't be judgemental - is this a familar ring?
Live and Let Live, we don't have to be alike,
there are lot's of different people coming down the pike.

Smile!!
