There are...

...some things that you should not do,
most are common sense, it's lacking in a few,
if you doing more than your share at work,
maybe you should ask for help, and not act like a jerk

too much multi-tasking, not good
Or maybe you load trucks, right outside the door,
and you're bright enough to know what fork lifts are for;
but before you bring the load to the edge of the dock,
wait for the truck!  Don't pay attention to the clock.

Isn't this da bomb?
 When it's cold outside, and when it snows,
dress carefully, in your good winter clothes;
and you can make snow angels, if you prefer,
but as for wearing clothes, please do not demur.
Yikes!
My apologies to those of you who have common sense.

If all....

....business men were honest, that would be great,
but it'll never happen, when there's a chance to raise a rate,
or what if the Iraq War wasn't what they said,
did we raise the price of gas, to make up for the dead?

And if cartoon characters aged the way we do,
don't you think Orphan Annie would look just like you?
Or, how about Popeye, our all favorite sailor man,
what would he look like now, instead of younger than?

You never...

...know, for sure, if what you see is right,
maybe if you're tired, and turning in for the night;
something might look 'different' than it usually does,
the lines are softened, a little like fuzz.

Or doing heavy reading, did you just yawn?
Or me doing reading way before dawn;
things aren't always just what you see,
your eyes and brain can trick you, how can that be?

So take a look at these illustrations, look close and try,
to see if they fool you, of if you've got a good eye;
some of them are tricky, but they've been around,
you may already have an answer. Let's take a look around.
How many people in this illustration?

Duck or rabbit?

Old or young woman?

I suspect...

...most people like to sleep in bed,
it's a painful situation, a man could wake up dead;
or, better yet, some magical cure,
could make that same guy, a downright bore.

That's enough about me, let's take about nice stuff,
there's a lot or that around, and I can't get enough;
like this friendly nurse that called, her name was Kathleen,
she put me on a list, to study, hope my lungs are clean.

But that's not the nice I speak of, I just wandered off,
and found some great photos, no, there's no need to cough.
Just take a look and wonder, how a photographer waited so long,
to see some beautiful, as pretty as a song.

There are...

...some neat things I see every day,
some are up close, and some far away,
I like looking for pictures, they entertain,
and it sure beats, above all, a walk in the rain.

Now some news from the home front, and the life I led,
I spent a whole night, upstairs, in my bed;
after three months in a chair, I thought it would be nice,
until I woke up this morning and the air was like ice.

I guess I'll try it again, it's where I should be after all,
I had my radio, but there was not bat on the ball,
a couple of months more, when the weather is tame,
I can lay there, with a ear to the game.

Now that...

A cowboy is sick Home on the Range!
 ...home, with meds I can give myself,
I just can't resign to living life on the shelf,
so yesterday we went for a walk,
we weren't out long, if you tell time by the clock.

I just needed to move, use my legs a bit,
when I'm at home all I do is sit;
that's not entirely true, I sleep some as well,
and I have things to do, but all is not just swell.

I write comments in the online version of the newspaper

Here's a list of things you could do, if you were home sick.(click to enlarge)

It's hard...

...are discharged at the hospital, there's a long wait,
maybe six hours, as for me I hate to wait,
so you can "chomp at the bit" all you want,
and get rolled right out, it's not a jaunt.

There are papers to sign and pages to read,
stuff to take home, oh, they make sure you agreed;
somebodies coming to give you a ride,
you can show them those papers, with a great deal of pride.
