News for you...

Turn on your way back machine, sometime within the last forty years during the Saturday morning cartoon shows. Nestles had a "chocolate milk mix" commercial it was as follows:
N-E-S-T-L-E-S (this was spelled out)
Nestles make the very best,

I can't sing on here of course, and if I could it wouldn't be helpful. Do you remember it? It was a catchy jingle. Well Hollie and I have re-written it.

Staples laminates the best,

Oh, the things that we think of on a Saturday morning :)

The rain in Spain......

.......may fall on the plain,
but in Maine it's a real pain.
I wish it would stop. Just go away,
and leave us a nice dry day.

I managed to walk around town,
with an umbrella and a frown.
And then walked some more,
in a large store, but who's keeping score.

Yesterday was "give blood day",
every eight weeks so they say.
But my finger sticks were a fail,
No iron, guess I'm to pale.

Today, Saturday, is another,
date with the child of her mother.
She wants a new magazine, a book,
some polish, and plastic to cook.

Oh, the girl always has plans,
they don't concern pots and pans.
Her "cooking" plans are her dreams,
of tens of laminate machines.

The projects she'll do,
well, it's just a small few,
shes says as she's busily pasting,
photo to paper, no time is wasting.

Be at Staples at nine on the dot,
I mean, she may have a lot.
People who work at that store,
turn the heat on the machine for sure.

They know when she walks in the door,
there will be "projects" galore,
they'll get them all done,
but Dad, it just one,
so, you see, there's always one more!

We hope you have a great day,
please take care of pets that now stray,
push the big purple button for sure,
'cause meals are needed and more.

Have a great day, or weekend, or whatever this is.

Well, these came out all backward,
you know? instead of forward,
It's operator error, or maybe some mistake;
now doesn't that beat all? Or does it take the cake?

So please go feed the critters their needed daily meal,
you know the website don't you? So let's make a deal.
Be good as you can be to others, please don't pass the buck;
You'll find that it works for you, you can change your luck!

Be happy!

I wonder if.......

.........i should get used to sleeping in?
Two days in a row, is that the longest that it's been?
It probably doesn't matter when or where or how;
but it's important to have happen to me right now.

Yesterday was quiet, yes I was quite a bore,
I think that I was tired from the day before.
I did get in my walking, I like that a lot
and if it didn't happen I'd suspect a plot.

So, over there in Brewer on Dirigo Drive,
I did four miles of walking, oh my how I thrive.
It's very relaxing and doesn't seem like work,
now that I've developed that little daily quirk.

When I got home I wondered, what will I do now?
Why don't you work on your project you've not forgotten how!
So after lunch I gathered all my artwork stuff,
and here is what I finished. Did I do enough?

It's ten o'clock.......

...and twenty minutes later,I say,
I'm ready and up for the day.
Just like all of the days before,
awakened to even the score.

The Red Sox are behind three to one,
fans watching the game having fun.
They are cheering and of both sexes,
you can tell they're playing in Texas.

But, forget all of that,
them losing has gotten old hat.
There are things I must do,
to better explain and inform you.

I have news of a personal best,
it happened yesterday, now I rest.
I finished walking five hundred miles,
and celebrated with a good many smiles.

You see that's one million steps,
over a course a great many reps.
In March I started to keep score,
of the first miles then many more.

The doctors said 'please lose weight',
do some exercise we know that you hate.
I was advised, to get off my duff,
and do some walking and stuff.

Little did I know then,
how much fun it has been.
I look forward now to doing a double.
and do one thousand miles, with no trouble.

Keep It Simple Stupid, hope I don't offend,
but it's good practice when,
life gets complicated and it will,
you won't be tempted to kill.

And give the critters a bite,, it's the site.
The reason is really simple, easy and quick.
when on the big purple button you click.

Have a great day!

Just a note.

Todays posting is below this note (see Fixation....).

Those rhyme postings are easier to write than stuff like this, I don't know why; it must be a funny brain thing. I didn't comment on the Red Sox, they aren't as important as the family.

Fixations overrule directions

Oh my, the Hollie Day fun,
went off without a hitch, well only one.
She needed to have a fixation fix,
and the ride to Presque Isle was not in the mix.

No, down to see Gram was what she stated,
but her management skills are way over rated.
It was evidently true that she wanted a hat,
that was the truth, it's much more than that.

So off we did trundle into the day,
of a great southern trip, we would make hay,
a stop in Waterville, for Tim Hortons you see,
it was a free doughnut day, how much fun can that be? (really good)

Then into WalMart, there's a new CD out,
well they didn't have it, but no need to pout.
Onto the highway, the I95,
that is the way that we did drive.

Next stop was in Biddeford, a good Target store,
and guess what? The CD we did score! (and it was on sale, first day out)
then to the holy Staples for the fantastic,
layering of paper in hot sheets of plastic.

Then on to Sanford, to see Grammie Grant,
she handled it well, no reason to rant.
The visit ending with a handshake, no kissing allowed,
she did really well, and she made me proud.

Time now for lunch, it's ten in the morning,
we dropped in on Wendy, without any warning,
Then, you may guess, she found some new paper,
the need to laminate grew greater and greater!

Back down to Staples, that Biddeford great,
and by all that was holy she did laminate.
Then it was time to go on route one,
now in summer, that is great fun.

There was an accident, up there, up ahead,
traffic was stalled, the whole line went dead.
but the cops and the firemen were there in a flash,
and redirecting the traffic, these guys earn their cash.

We got to South Portland that historic place,
the first home to Hollie, we drove through in haste.
On to the next great holy shrine,
out to Portland Head, where the famous light will shine.

She spotted the hat, and with vision unseen,
by God they had one! It was even lime green!
We had to buy it, simple as that,
to the head of a princess, the high holy hat!

But Dad..she talked, and often she did,
I wished on that, she would put a lid.
I found one more, oh Dad it's so great,
please find a place to laminate.

We stopped in Augusta, and a good Target store,
we found President cards, she needed one more.
George Washington commissioned the place,
for the great light to shine on our human race.

He "built" the great light on Portland Head,
to keep all the sailors from ending up dead.
To him went the honor, being glued to a sheet,
along with a postcard and into the heat.

Another great project, oh, one of the best,
on Hollies Maine wall, I'm sure it will rest.
For supper and Meds then on our way home,
it's been hours and hours, I'm worn to the bone.

But we made it back happy and oh so proud,
to all that would listen she said aloud,
thanks Dad for the trip, I had a good time.
She went to her house and I went to mine.

So if you are planning an eventual trip,
don't talk to Hollie, she won't give a rip.
To her what's important aren't places, you know,
it's all in the process, laminating we go!

Be kind to the critters, an to one another,
maybe that kitty is somebodies mother.
Don't let them go hungry, it's easy to fix.
Just add purple buttons into the mix.

Have a great day!

It's fixed...... my mind, it's not just a scare;
Red Sox management, just doesn't care.
I'm not writing about it any more today,
not a happy camper is enough to say!

Anyhow, today is a special day,
Hollie's on vacation, we're going away.
Not very far, and just for a while,
today, you see, we'll be in Presque Isle!

Oh, we'll see WalMart and Staples, she'll have a great time,
she'll spend all of her money, then start on mine.
We'll go to Houlton too, Mardens is there,
then go to lunch, heaven only knows where.

We have a great time, Hollie and I,
driving the county, under blue sky,
we'll see the windmills up in Mars Hill,
potato fields, broccoli and even more still.

By the time we get home, and all settled in,
and we remember just how far we've been,
tired and sleepy and ready for bed
then we'll remember, the great day we had.

So be kind to others, and they'll be good to you,
and of all the hungry, remember a few,
share of your bounty, please don't be quitters,
push the big purple button, and feed those critters.

Have a great day!!

Just another.....

...quiet day,
there's really not much to say,
about the doings and going on;
no really, the day is gone.

Not much walking on this day,
just enough so I can say,
two and a half, miles that is;
and up the road to do some biz.

Oh yeah! I got a new hat,
can you imagine me in that,
worked on a painting, nice one too,
maybe it's for one of you.

Watched the golf in Scotland played,
and the bike race, time delayed.
Red Sox too, just the end;
drive me right around the bend.

Today, a meeting, after walking,
that I do without much squawking.
Work on that painting, yes some more;
regular stuff, you know the score.

Off into the gentle day,
not much else for me to say.
Be so good to one another,
treat you pets like you would your mother!
