They're still at it, again

Sunset in Franklin, Vermont - click to enlarge

Franklin, Vermont is in far northern Vermont in about the center, it's home to a State Park and a nice lake.  My sister-in-law and her husband live there, she took this photo a couple of evenings ago.
Chet and Parker spoke to each other, briefly, and decided to do nothing.  Nothing!  They are at odd about which toy to put back in the sand box.
Now it comes to light that the guards/officers at the Maximum Security Prison in Colorado, where the really bad people go, are not being paid and are working, unpaid.  Meanwhile in it's infinite wisdom the government continues to pay the prisoners for their work; ain't that smart.

Shut up! No! You shut up!

Well, if you noticed the title today I can explain.  Chet and Parker are talking.  The words in the title do well to explain the talk.  Does that sound like progress?  No?  Well, it does to some people in the media, actually a lot of them take this as a sign of progress.  I don't think of it as progress, just more baloney.
Now, with Oakland and Pittsburg both out of the baseball series, and with Cincinnati dropping the ball early it is very, very easy to cheer for the Red Sox.  They are the only team left!  That's it!

Another day down, and something good too

We took a little ride yesterday to Saint Albans.  Maine not Vermont.  We ate at the Sunrise Restaurant and Bakery, plain food and good.  We drove over the Causeway to Birch Island just to check things out.  And, if you can imagine, we drove home.  And we planted tulips and daffodils.  My wife went and got some pine spills (pine needles) and insulated the peonies and bulbs, as well as the neighbors blueberry bushes.
Meanwhile, in Washington, nothing happened except more table pounding, loud-mouth garbage, in a word Nothing.
And, also meanwhile, here in Maine the ever-lovable Governor Paul LePage, or LePlague declared a Civil Emergency because of the Federal shutdown.  Now he can override State laws.  Watch out!

The Red Sox continue, and some other stuff too

Well the Red Sox will move on to play the winner of Detroit/Oakland for the League Pennant.  This was supposed to be a losing season before it all started; and now looky, looky.
And of course Chet and Parker entered week two and there's nothing to report with the exception of nearly half a million jobs.  The worst thing is not paying death benefits to the families of the four Army soldiers who were killed in Afghanistan this week.  What in hell has our government come to, what a bunch of selfish pigs.

Another day that didn't turn out right, for me

You can also see in the photo the additional "power line" installed by Central Maine Power, it carries electricity south for the folks in Massachusetts.  The construction of this line has destroyed thousands of scenic views, including one of my favorite places. Bah! Humbug!
When I read the news earlier this morning it was evident the Chet and Parker are still in a tiff, no talking, no seeing, and certainly most of all no doing. Bah! Humbug!
I watched both Pittsburgh and Boston lose games, just before sleeping. Bah! Humbug!  I still think both of those team will win their series and continue one.

A slow day or was it?

A view in Dixmont, Maine - click to enlarge

Yesterday was kind of a slow day.  We made a short trip to Dixmont to see how the color has progressed, we may try again in a few days.  We stopped at Mainely Apples for a bag of Spencers which are now being picked, they are a "late" apple, and delicious if you like a real crisp apple.
The two unarmed bandits, Chet and Parker, still do not communicate with each other or with anyone else.  It's too bad that they don't talk to an adult.
The Pirates won the baseball game I watched, and the Patriots played like some kind of "misfits from outer worlds", what a terribly horrible game.  We also watched some of the golf.

Time passes and not much happens

Sebasticook River, Newport Maine

It was an interesting Saturday, Hollie got some new shoes, the Red Sox won, and Chet and Parker are either locked in their rooms or on a jaunt to Paris or Tokyo.
Do you ever feel, as I do, that the regular people in this county don't count - - until it's time to vote?  Do you really believe guys like Parker and Chet give a rats butt about us?  Really??
But then again I don't really believe in the Easter Bunny.  I don't believe the Red Sox will win or lose if I jinx them by watching or not watching the game on TV.  And, sadly, sometimes I feel the good old USA is screwed, no matter who is in charge, if anyone is.
And, even sadder, you can't buy any of that from China.
